One thing: JOB

June 30, 2008

I’ve decided to write a post mostly on one thing: JOB. This would also serve as an excellent motivation tool for my future use.

Still no job a month into summer – it sure does suck. Especially in my shoes because unlike many hard of hearing people out there, I don’t reap the wonderous benefits of SSI. To basically survive, I would need income and passive income would absolutely be very nice. Yes, I still work at my school’s Athletic Department but there are no hours during the summer since there are no collegiate sports being played. I have asked for a job in an office or something – unfortunately they can’t find anything for me.

So, all negativity aside, I have been working for a college professor as of recent. A friend and ex-roommate of mine has recommended me to the professor for taking his place. This “job” is still new as I have already logged 11 hours in two days doing dirty, hard yard work around her home. She’s very nice and genuine, also very flexible – that makes the work easier. There are almost basically no rules attached – I can use my phone as much I want to, breaks as much as I want to, and take a piss as much as I want to after drinking a gallon of H2O. The work I did the past two days consisted of weeding alongside her mile-long driveway. Trust me, it’s horrendous and it seemed like it hasn’t been taken care of in years. Gladys, the professor, is going to Russia somewhere for a study abroad program and I can pretty much come and go for three weeks getting the work done. Just basically a lot of weeding and “cleaning up” as there are so many leaves around that has been sitting there since Fall.

I’m still currently searching for real work where I can work during the weekends while a new academic year’s underway. I could always re-apply at Dick’s Sporting Goods as many times as I can. Sometimes in August would be fantastic as some kids might stop working and head back to school. So there’s that opportunity I have to be sure to take advantage of.

When the new year start, I have a part-time position (Sport Assistant) being in charge as a  Sports Weekend 2009 Coordinator. So it should be a good year and I’m looking to get that damn trophy back from a controversial tally count with our rivals!! This time we’re hosting here on our home turf!

So I feel sorta relieved to be having some money at least during the school year.

This summer so far has still convinced me to look elsewhere out of New York because it’s dreadful here. (It’ll be nice to have my girlfriend around as she is planning on being here for summer school. Having a company like her is always wonderful.) I’m looking to try to get a job at ESPN or reapply at Colorado Rockies (and any other professional sport teams). So I’ll be putting all of my effort this year to make sure I do actually have fun at work and make money.

And P.S. STOP SUCKING, ROCKIES!
