What am I thinking?

October 6, 2008

Hi. School is overrated. Granted, I have never taken school seriously in all of my 22 years of being in school. I never achieved a 4.0 GPA and only made the Dean’s List once (that was during my first Fall Quarter and I didn’t have 500 friends on my list on Facebook). I have completed my Associate’s in Business. I’m not in the Bachelor’s program just yet this quarter and those people just wanted to see if I can manage myself with the workload and survive it. I don’t know how many credits a student can graduate with Associate’s – probably in the 80-90 range but I’ve already racked up 145 credits. Jesus. R.I.T., wake up. I know I have better English skills than most of my classmates I’ve gone to classes with and they love to give me a hard time. But anyways, I hope I can get accepted into Bachelors after this quarter so I could easily complete all of the Bachelors requirements (as I have already enrolled in many Bachelor courses and old earned credits being transferred). But to sum it all up, school is definitely overrated. Other than school, I want to travel and live in places around the world. I want to go live in Melbourne and Sydney, Australia for a year, apply at a job and earn income somehow so I could accommodate myself. I was thinking about backpacking across the country from West to East and then go to South America. Was thinking about staying there for several years, maybe 5 at the most. I am just so sick of America – all the corruption and greed. I just want to appreciate life a little bit more and feel lucky for what I have. I have investments, a nice car, friends, education, family, and a special lady. Learning Spanish and Portuguese, South America’s culture, and making temporary friends would be beneficial to my learning experience. Buenos Aires would probably be where I would be staying the most and I want to be an expert on making the perfect beef empanadas. After a stay there, I would make my way up into Central America when I have earned enough money from part-time jobs to continue the expedition. I would wanted to make it all the way up back to Denver, Colorado to continue reality of a career and raising a family. That’ll be the trip of a lifetime, 6 years of travelling and soaking into another culture/lifestyle. Shoot pictures and writing a book about it. Writing a book was also one of my other goals I want to accomplish before I die and writing about this trip would have a lot of stories to tell. Winter is quickly approaching. I need to buy a North Face jacket that would guarantee to keep me warm since the old tan snowboard jacket I have was thin and always had to wear a hoodie underneath it. Speaking of winter jackets, I am thinking about giving in to New York’s snowboarding lifestyle this winter. I haven’t been snowboarding much lately and I hate the snow upstate – not as powdery or as much as the Rockies get. But I can deal with ice and fake snow, I wanted to be more active as I have already said after ultimately getting rid of a XBOX when I sit on my bum ass for hours a day. I’ll look into the possibility of getting a season pass – but my family and I are planning on going to our condo in Breckenridge for Christmas break when I’m home sweet home. I can’t wait to go to Arizona and celebrate a marriage of my two friends I know in college. It’s going to be fun and I sure would need a break from the cold weather that is approaching in upstate. I miss my friends and some of them are going to be there who is in the wedding – I already know it’s gonna be a good time and off the hook! Might be going to Las Vegas on a free time, since I’ll be staying there for 11 days while others are there for a short time. Las Vegas, golf, skydiving, Grand Canyon, pool/jacuzzis. Oh, I have been catching up Entourage and it is the shit! It airs on HBO and on its 5th season right now. I have seasons 1-4 and I’m almost on the 4th season. It is about four guys who were best friends from Queens and came to Hollywood for a movie star career. It is hilarious, a show made for guys like Gossip Girls is for the ladies. My favorite character in this show is Ari Gold, a super agent. He’s good, he’s won the last two Emmys for the Best Supporting Actor. My favorite scene of all time was in Season 3, Episode 15… find out for yourself. Hint: GTFO! Okay, now I’m not sure about the trip – it’s just a big dream. But I’d sure like to do some of that!

… and you didn’t read the whole thing, did you?

that sounds like one nice plan you got! don’t give up, you can make it actually happen! all the big things happen at this age/point of our lives so best to make it happen before you settle down. and that would be a great experience to blog about ;)
