The Strangers

July 15, 2008

“The Strangers directed by Bryan Bertino is one of the better horror/thriller movies since Double Jeopardy – all the movies in between are horrible and plots are similar. This is sure to make you jump a little once in a while. The ending was a major disappointment as it could be choreographed better. Overall, there were some things that they could have done – turn off the music, many bullets for the shotgun were available, etc. Liv Tyler is sure to be a rising actress.” -BL

Dollface: Is Tamara here?

I give it a 34%. (RottenTomatoes.com’s Top Critics: 55%)

First Movie Review: Iron Man

July 14, 2008

I have decided to write my own movie reviews on WordPress, I have tried an attempt on making and continuing my review journal on RottenTomatoes.com but it just doesn’t work out – I need an audience and WordPress obviously provides that. This whole thing started because I liked looking up RottenTomatoes.com’s Top Critics reviews and it’s rating once a new movie’s out or preparing to rent an old DVD. For example, one of my personal favorite movies of all time is American Gangster and it was rated at 76% by RT’s Top Critics. 76% is not considerably bad, but it is still a good movie to enjoy.  I thought it’s a fun way to criticize movies.

I criticize movies only when:

  • First and foremost, it’s Open-Captioned (OC)..
  • Attending a showing at a local theater.
  • And most importantly, the movie’s Open-Captioned.

My first movie review ever was (Originally posted on RottenTomatoes.com):

IRON MAN

“Storyline’s fantastic and Marvel’s first full motion picture production is a success! And – Mr. Downey’s a perfect fit for this type of superhero. I’ve enjoyed the technology perspective Marvel have created and it is visually breathtaking. Goosebumps here and there occurred in some parts of the movie. Lastly, I like how a movie can be near realistic in a sense that they have used the term “MySpace” in the beginning.” -BL

“The truth is… I’m Iron Man.” – Robert Downey Jr. as Mr. Tony Stark

I give it a 96%. (RottenTomatoes.com’s Top Critics: 92% average)

I’ll have to catch up and update reviews for the 4 movies that I’ve seen after Iron Man – The Strangers, WALL-E, Wanted, Hancock
